Our Story

Founded by former partners and executives of Cannondale Associates and Kantar Retail, Cadent Consulting Group is a consulting firm focused on strategies for profitable growth.

 

We have provided more than 25 years of marketing, category and sales leadership in the consumer product space, and more recently in healthcare. We deliver strategic yet practical solutions centered at the intersection of consumers, shoppers, retailers and healthcare service providers.

History

1990s:

Current partners of Cadent Consulting Group founded Cannondale Associates in 1992. Cannondale quickly established itself as a leader in the Consumer Goods industry by providing expert, executable recommendations across a variety of disciplines, including shopper insights, category leadership, trade promotion optimization, pricing analytics and sales force organization.

 

Leveraging its strong relationship with both retailers and manufacturers, Cannondale developed the PoweRanking® survey, where both constituencies rated each other across a set of relationship and sales metrics. The survey remains a critical industry publication for benchmarking quality amongst manufacturers, retailers and the investment community.

 

Always at the forefront of insights and analytics, Cannondale was ahead of its time in using “big data.” The firm partnered with leading retailers to analyze shopper card data, which it aggregated to develop two key products – the ShopperGenetics™ practice, providing detailed purchase analysis to manufacturers for use in their retail plans, and RichMix,™ an assortment tool founded on the principle of transferable demand that enabled manufacturers across hundreds of categories to manage assortment with retailers.

 

2000s:

Cannondale Associates was acquired by WPP, enabling the firm to combine its highly respected consulting practice with the wider WPP network of data and research providers. After operating and growing its business under WPP for five years, Cannondale combined with other WPP analytical and research entities to form Kantar Retail in 2010. Cannondale partners were selected to manage the integration and lead the new business in its foundational years.

 

Today:

Founded by original partners of Cannondale Associates, Cadent Consulting Group thrives on the innovative spirit that has driven its leaders for the past three decades.

 

With the industry in a major state of change, Cadent continues to meet the evolving needs of its Consumer Goods clients. The firm also advises in areas such as Revenue Management and Route to Market strategies for more focused, often private equity backed, companies. Additionally, Cadent has expanded the reach of its consumer expertise via its strategic advisory work with healthcare providers as they adapt to intense marketplace pressures that are rapidly transforming the healthcare industry.
